Dan Mullins Thunder Struck

Back in January after our shows in Greece, Dan managed to sustain a knee injury which resulted in him having to take some time out from drumming.
Whilst it seems he is at the end of this break there is still some time needed to heal & recover in which he is unable to represent MDB on the throne of thunder this summer, although we may see a return before summer is out & most assuredly by the years end he/we figured it best not to rush into these shows & risk aggrevating his injury causing problems for our entire stint of already confirmed dates and future l.p. writing and recording.
Rather than cancel the shows we felt it important to celebrate our 20th anniversary year, whilst Dan rests up we have drafted in a most talented sticksman in the form of Mr David Gray of Akercocke fame to fill in, whilst Shaun Winter Steels (yes ex MDB Shaun) has been keeping the band in trim through some of the more sparser area's of rehearsals with David. So the band is in top gig form thanks to these two.
Rehearsals have been intense with both drummers particularly bringing David upto speed on the set ready for this summer, however the Doom machine still turns & MDB are ready to bring you the quailty you deserve.
As soon as Dan has the all clear we will let you all know, but for now a darkly miserable welcome to David and a heartily morose thankyou to Shaun Winter Steels for pitching in when it really counted.

May we take this opportunity to express our sadness at the death of Ronnie James Dio and our condolences to his family & friends. We toured with him and his band back in 1996 throughout the US where he treated us with a great deal of respect, which we shall never forget. This is a sad time for all who knew and loved him and Rock has lost one of it’s great endearing characters.

Limited Edition Prints by Aaron

Anyone intrigued by the artwork of Aaron Stainthorpe may be interested to learn that a small selection of Limited Edition prints are becoming available on his web site www.azzron.com. This ties in rather nicely with the news that My Dying Bride album covers will also be available as Limited Edition prints next year as part of the bands 20th anniversary celebrations. These will be available from the new official web store which the band hope to launch early in 2010.
Bring Me Victory EP: Release & Pre-order

October 26th sees the release of My Dying Bride's new EP, featuring the track 'Bring Me Victory' from the colossal 'For Lies I Sire' album. The
EP includes cover versions of the traditional English medieval ballad
'Scarborough Fair' plus the Swans classic, 'Failure', and a bonus live
rendition of MDB's own 'Vast Choirs', plus the new video to the title track
directed by Charlie Granberg.

Bring Me Victory EP Finished

My Dying Bride have completed the recording of the new EP "Bring Me Victory". The track list
is as follows:

- Scarborough Fair
- Failure
- Vast Choirs - Live at Graspop 2008
A new video will complement the release which will hopefully be around late
October.
'Scarborough Fair' is a traditional English folk song without specific origin but was made popular by Simon and Garfunkel in 1966. My Dying Bride's version will feature two new introductory verses written by Aaron and will naturally feature the bands usual epic style with violins and crushing guitars. 'Failure' was originally written by Swans and has been a favourite within the MDB camp for many years; it was only a matter of time before the band made their own version of this especially miserable number.
New EP in the Making

My Dying Bride have been busy in the Future Works studio, recording material for a new EP release, titled Bring Me Victory. Two covers, one of the traditional 'Scarborough Fair' and a cover of 'Failure' by the Swans, will be part of this new EP. A new video has been completed as well to support the release.
An October release date has been pencilled in but this may be put back a little depending on how the last days of recording go!
More as we get it.

MDB and Matamp Guitar Amplifiers

We are proud to announce a new partnership between My Dying Bride and the
legendary UK guitar amplification company Matamp. The imminent European
tour shall be powered by a couple of custom, hand-built, valve guitar
amplifiers played by Andrew and Hamish. After visiting the showroom of
Matamp headquarters, Hamish reported, "these amps are so inspiring, and
the build quality is such that the amps are as heavy as the riffs we play!
Pity the backs of our techs! We look forward to using them on tour, and
also in the studio in the future!"

Line Up Change

This announcement just in:
Katie is no longer taking part in My Dying Bride. After confirming to play all of the shows we presently have booked she decided she did not want to do them, stating the reason being as "I want to concentrate on my career". She is presently a part time psychology student. So make of that what you will.
The kind chap who came in to replace her is called Shaun Macgowan. He has been rehearsing with us for no time at all and has shown great commitment already. He will not be being classed as a full time member until he has passed his probationary period with us, which is now 30 years. If you would like to welcome Shaun in the only way MDB fans can, that would be a great test of his character. And by 'the only way' I mean to complain that he is not Martin. For ever.
The band overall are saddened by the line up change, we think more for you than us. But as anyone who saw the show at the Wave Gotik in Leipzig will confirm, we have lost nothing.

My Dying Bride have announced several European shows and festival appearances for the coming months in support of their newly released doom metal opus, 'For Lies I Sire' - currently making waves across the metal world. 'For Lies I Sire' was released on Peaceville Records on March 23rd as a special edition CD version, containing a guitar tablature booklet and plectrum, alongside the standard version of the album.
